Spring has sprung and I forgot to blog for like...3 weeks?
It's been busy getting going with homeschool and implementing lasting structure here to help us adjust well to this new season.
I felt inspired to grab my big camera today and grab a day in time during this once-in-a-lifetime spring that is bursting with blooms and chaos.
Milo is so ready for this. He was feeling a good mix of nerves and excitement about entering Kindergarten, but he went to the school, got in line for class, and looked rock-solid the whole time. Meanwhile I was trying to hold back the tears until I could get to the car.
I'm praying this will be a time of encouragement, growth, and success for him. He is such a blessing to our family. It's hard to share him:)

However.
I can't ever seem to limit the story of our day to just 10 pictures, and I realize it's actually the 22nd because it's taken me that long to get this blog post done.
These are about 50/50 between my iPhone camera and my Canon DSLR. These were all taken on December 9th.

I barely got this done! I have been neglecting my camera lately, and everything else photography related. Life has been so consumed with parenting these boys! Nick has definitely hit the strong willed, defiance that is the hallmark of being 2 years old. His birthday is not until next Monday, but he wanted to get an early start I guess.
Yesterday was a pretty average day. Messy house, preschool, MOPS, playtime at home, chores, dinner, bed. Average, but it takes all the patience and kindness I can muster to make it through a day like that. Good thing it's not up to me~ Galatians 5:22-23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forebearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law" Of course I don't nail this every day, but by God's grace, despite my failures over, and over, and over, and over, and over, he generously gives his Spirit to guide me in this parenting journey, and I hope to continually manifest these promised fruits of the Spirit.
Of course one thing that gets in the way of this are my idols. When I worship a schedule, a clean house, other people's approval, my own comfort and ease, hobbies, and the list goes on........I cannot serve God and people the way I was created to do. I'm thankful for the conviction that the Holy Spirit brings when I slip into worshipping my idols time and time again. Even when that comes through the gentle correction of another person. SO thankful for those people who love me enough to point out where I'm slipping.
Anyway, on to the story of our very average day!

After dinner. Do you see the boy whizzing past? I think he did at least 30 laps around the table after dinner, no joke. Then they both ran circles around the yard until it was dark.

And while I was making this blog post, the boys dumped out a big container of pretzels on the floor and pretended it was a "pretzel restaraunt" and kept serving me handfuls of pretzels. That is why my posts are few and far between these days;) Off to clean up! Have a happy day!
This is part 2 of my 10 on 10 posts for the month. These pictures start in the afternoon, after we had spent the morning doing Bartlett harvest. We are so blessed to have cousins living just up the road now, and they have a "waterslide". The boys had a blast.
Of course Nick can't stay where the action is, he's always running off trying to find an adventure

I'm so not good at 10 on 10. I always have a bazillion too many pictures. Especially lately, because I barely pick up my DSLR anymore, so when I do, look out! I get a little snap-happy. So, I'm doing 9 on 9, 10 on 10, and 11 on 11 this month?! I'm going to post a few today, a few tomorrow, and a few the next day, but all of them were taken in the same day.

Woohoo! I narrowed it down to 17 for this month's 10 on 10! I just can't tell the story of a day with only 10 pictures.
On Sunday, we went to Lake Chelan to enjoy the 100 degree heat and celebrate my mom turning 50! It was such a great day! Both boys shed some blood, but came out smiling. Milo dropped a huge rock on top of his head and split it open, and Nick fell down in the boat and got a big fat lip and a little bloody nose.
We didn't set out to go to Stehekin, but we ended up there. It's so beautiful up there. It's such a paradox to be sitting in the blazing sun and seeing the glaciers that are feeding the lake we were enjoying. So much beauty packed into that place! We saw several waterfalls, a sea plane landing and taking off, and Kevin showed us some hieroglyphics that he had been shown on a previous trip up the lake.
It was a FANTASTIC day.

I really need to quit doing "10 on 10". It's usually more like "36 on 10". I am just not good at narrowing it down.
A nice, average day. We started off kissing Daddy goodbye, doing the usual morning routine, I probably finished the dishes from the night before, saw a fantastic rainbow coming through the window landing right on Milo's hair. Had breakfast and went for a walk with Grandma Heidi. Took both boys to Costco. Came home and played around with Milo while Nick napped. Went back to Grandma Heidi's for Hayden's preschool graduation celebration. Came home. Went to bed. Thanking Jesus for every minute of it. Even when I'm hurrying the kids along, feeling surrounded by never ending messes, mishaps caused by a curious & rebellious 1 1/2 year old, and Milo having yet another melt down, I'm usually not thankful in the moment, but something always comes around that puts everything into perspective. For that, I'm grateful.

Sort of forgot about this until yesterday, so glad I remembered! We had a full day at home yesterday, which was SOO nice, as I feel like we have been so busy lately. The weather was almost 70 degrees, so we got outside a few times throughout the day. I'm hoping this weather lasts, because it gives such a good start to the growing season for tree fruit!

It's already time for another 10 post! This is a photo project where I have my camera with me all day and get shots of all the exciting or mundane happenings of our day. So, this post will have little story telling, and lots of photos!

So, I'm doing a new little project that a bunch of other moms and bloggers are doing, you post 10 pictures, all from one day, on the 10th of the month. It's a really good way to get creative with what you see throughout the day, and to think differently about what makes a "good" picture. I am the queen of procrastinating, so my pictures are from today. Not sure if that's against the rules, but if it is, oh well. Our day was SO fun filled and packed with adventure......not exactly. We spent the day at home packing for our camping trip, and both boys were pretty clingy, as they are both dealing with a stomach bug. So, it is what it is, see for yourself.

Milo has a total fascination with helicopters. Here he is "spraying" as he tells me. I hope he doesn't grow up to be a helicopter pilot. My heart would never get a rest!
