Patti (your fmf neighbor this week)

Welcome to the fmf community! I love your perspective on inspiration . . . lots to think about here. That line -- "Without it, we may be apt to settle for a life that is merely functional, getting from day to day with mere survival as our aim." You said it so well -- thank you for the reminder. :)

What a great first FMF post! I especially love, "Inspiration is the fuel of living a life marked by God’s creative imprinting on each of our lives." So perfectly said. I'm in the #69 spot this week. Blessings!

Great post, Kristi!

Mere survival isn't that bad, though. This is my challenge every day, and I don't resent it. I have to find a reason for hope in the face of terminal illness, and meaning through the pain.

There's no 'success' here; it has to be renewed daily.

As for what inspires me, I've seen a few lifetimes' worth of death and cruelty and tears, and that motivates me...when I could, to stop it where I saw it, by whatever means necessary...and today, being unable to deploy to the fight, by words that witness to good as a counterpoint to pain.

I'm on God's side, even when He seems far away.

#1 at FMF this week.

Andrew, I'm thankful for your words! I agree, mere survival isn't bad at all. There is so much beauty in the most seemingly small or insignificant of things.

I'm off to read your blog now.
